First, let's meet the panel.

Dave runs a TGP site called Bizzare-Rituals, one of the original few TGP's to use a traffic trade automation script.

Marco runs a site called From Holland With Love, which has also been around for a very long time.

Guy offers a service called AdultWebmasterSoftware, a great content management software solution.

WJ: Of the features currently offered by leading trade scripts, which do you think are most important for increasing traffic to a site?

Dave: Firstly, the most important feature of any trade script is productivity. It allows you to examine the quality of traffic sent to your site by other websites. Talk to other webmasters. Subtle text link descriptions which target your website's content will vastly improve your traffic and sales. If a website is sending unproductive traffic, you need to experiment to get the balance right. If it still doesn't work, just cancel the trade and concentrate on finding new ones. No point in flogging a dead horse.

WJ:
What suggestions can you offer new webmasters who are trying to build their trades up from nothing?

Marco: 1: Use icq to contact other adult webmasters. 2: There are wonderful lists with 1000's of adult sites that use trade scripts. 3: On every script and most signup pages you will find the ICQ number of the webmaster. 4. Try to build a site with clean traffic; no bulk CJ. 5. Take your time and be patient. Do NOT focus on huge amounts of traffic but focus on good clean trades and long lasting trades.

Guy: Take your time. Look for one good trade a day.

Dave: There are plenty of methods. Submit your quality pages to large link sites like Persian Kitty, Tommy's Bookmarks, etc. Submit your pages to the search engines, but make sure they are search engine friendly. Get someone who knows about search engines to look at your site. Make galleries with back links to your site and submit them to the 100's of TGP sites out there. Try to exchange links with other smaller sites. Be creative, try to be different from the masses out there!

WJ:
Describe for me some ways a webmaster can network in order to find trades. What is most effective? Boards? ICQ? Email?

Dave: All of the above. Find site toplists... SexTracker, for example. Contact site owners via e-mail. Its a personal thing. If you want to make contacts, you just have to start somewhere. Once you've contacted one webmaster, ask for some of his contacts. Asking never hurts. :)

Guy: I usually use ICQ, sometimes email. Boards are not a place to discuss traffic trades, in my opinion. It is better done in private. Surfing the web is the best place to find sites to trade with.

WJ: Let's say I'm composing an email asking for a link trade. How can I word it to convince that person to force hits to me?

Marco: First, make a section on your site where you can put permanent links. They will send mostly good, productive traffic, and the other party will love that productivity. Put this in your email and say that you can make permanent links on your site. Usually the other party will put up a small force on such trades.

WJ:
What steps can a new webmaster take to increase the quality of the traffic sent from his or her web site?

Guy: The most important thing about sending out good quality traffic is finding the right sites to trade with. Teen sites do not work with mature sites , for example.... so if you have a teen tgp, and send traffic to a mature trade, it will probably not be a quality trade. You have to find trade sites that are close in theme and design to your tgp. That's how you send out quality traffic.

Dave: Target your traffic. It sounds ridiculous, but it's true. For example, only send surfers to lesbian sites from lesbian-related text links or banners. Linking sites in the same window can also increase productivity and conversion ratios!

WJ: What can I do to prevent webmasters from cheating my script?

Marco: Disconnect the automatic signup page. It will only attract cheaters. Make every trade by hand and speak personally with other webmasters. The risk of getting cheaters will then be reduced to a minimum.
